UI in Motion

UI in Motion is my self-initiated motion practice: a series of short-form interface films inspired by Apple's interface language — app concepts, transitions and product edits built around timing, easing and kinetic type.

Every film is produced end to end — concept, animation, edit, sound and release — on a consistent weekly rhythm. Publishing to a live audience of 2.0M+ turns each release into a test: retention data shows, frame by frame, whether the timing holds attention or loses it. It's the closest thing to a client deadline a self-initiated project can have.

Process

Each film starts with the track, not the screen — listening on repeat until a picture forms: which Apple UI (Lock Screen, Messages, Search, Control Center) matches the emotion and the lyric, and how the mood should shift as the song moves.

From there it's built inside After Effects: transitions and effects are tested and refined by ear, and easing curves are hand-tuned so key moments land exactly on the beat rather than relying on default timing. The goal each time is the same — motion that feels inevitable, not decorated on top of the track.
